Text Box: Camp GooseChase—2010 NEW FOR THIS SUMMER — WE’LL BE JOINING FORCES WITH CAMP HOLIDAY TRAILS, A CAMP FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL HEALTH NEEDS. WE ARE ADDING A HORSE THERAPY/COMMUNITY SERVICE COMPONENT TO OUR PROGRAM. CAMP SESSIONS WILL HELD AT CAMP HOLIDAY TRAILS WHERE, IN ADDITION TO OUR USUAL HORSE ACTIVITIES, CAMPERS WILL LEARN ABOUT HORSE THERAPY WORK. SEVERAL MORNINGS A WEEK, CAMPERS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO INTERACT WITH CHT CAMPERS, SHARE WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED, AND ASSIST WITH THE HORSE THERAPY PROGRAM. FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT CAMP HOLIDAY TRAILS, PLEASE VISIT WWW.CAMPHOLIDAYTRAILS.ORG GooseChase sessions are for girls, ages 8-14, who simply love being with horses. Sessions are designed to promote confidence and competence in a non-competitive setting. Weather permitting, we will work with horses morning and afternoon, with a lunch break from 12:00-1:00. Additional activities vary from session to session, with opportunities for field trips, farm chores, crafts, cooking, and games. Campers should pack a lunch, snack, and drinks. Certified riding helmet and heeled boots required for all riders. Camp runs from 9:00-4:00 each day. Limited enrollment. Session 1:  June 28—July 9 Two weeks: 9:00-4:00 daily Session 2:  July 12—July 23 Two weeks: 9:00-4:00 daily Session 3: July 26—August 6 Two weeks: 9:00-4:00 daily Cost:  $700 per two-week session All sessions this summer will be held at Camp Holiday Trails, located just outside Charlottesville off of Fontaine Avenue. We reserve the right to modify activities depending upon the weather, including heat and humidity.  GooseChase Field Trip PHOTOS Barn Buddies Not being offered in 2010. due to a school service trip to Nicaragua in June. Please check back next year. This one week, half-day camp is for boys and girls, ages 5-7.  In addition to hands-on opportunities with the horses, campers will explore farm life through stories, songs, and arts and crafts.  Morning sessions run from 9:00-12:00, with snack provided.  One session offered. Adventure Week Not being offered in 2010. Please check again next year This popular program will not be offered this summer due to family travel plans during the month of August. Please check back next year! Enjoy several days of trail riding through the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains outside Syria, VA. We'll be at Graves Mountain Lodge where we'll enjoy staying in one of their rustic but comfortable cabins. Come prepared to ride! Minimum age is 12, and all participants must be confident riders capable of providing basic horse care and tacking up independently. Proficiency test required for applicants who do not ride regularly at Old Meadows Farm.  In addition to riding each day and exploring the nearby mountains (weather permitting), we'll have access to all the amenities available at Graves Mountain Lodge. We'll swim in the swimming hole, play in the pool, sit around the campfire outside our cabin, and enjoy a final night's dinner at the lodge.
